Plenty of Cape Town companies will drop off a spit and a bag of rolls. That's not what we do. A Why Not?! spit braai is a gourmet event built around live fire: whole lamb or beef basted and slow-roasted on site, three composed salads that people actually talk about, two warm sides, freshly baked rolls and proper condiments — carved and served by our team while the fire does its theatre. It's the South African braai you grew up with, plated the way we cook everything else.

Where it works

Rooftops in the city, long tables in a Constantia garden, winelands venues, year-end functions on the office terrace, wedding feasts where the ceremony flows straight into canapés and carving. If there's space for fire and people, we'll make it work — we bring the spit, the equipment and the crew, and we leave our station cleaner than we found it.

Our Urban Spit-Braai starts from R320 per person — meat, sides, salads, rolls and service included. You'll find cheaper spits in Cape Town and we're comfortable with that: this is the version where the salads aren't an afterthought and nobody in your party spends the evening carving. Do you cook on site, and what do you bring?

We cook on site with our own spit, fire and equipment — rooftops, gardens, vineyards and venues are all home ground. We handle setup, the roast, carving, serving and the clean-down of our station afterwards.
